The History of the Smithsonian Bibliography contains 1400 annotated bibliographic citations to published and unpublished materials (books, journal and newspaper articles, dissertations, audiovisual materials, reports, lectures, and correspondence) about the history of the Smithsonian Institution. Entries contain citations to the major publications and documents on the history of the Smithsonian; however, the bibliography is not (yet) comprehensive and includes mostly English language materials. Citations in this bibliography are not necessarily located in the Smithsonian Institution Libraries or Smithsonian Institution Archives. Therefore, call numbers have not been provided. Contact your local library to obtain a copy. Each entry consists of a title, author/editor, publication information and index terms; some entries contain abstracts of and/or explanatory notes about the publication. To search the bibliography only, select the combined keyword search screen and limit your search to the History of the Smithsonian Bibliography. You may also limit your search to a specific publication date range or sort by author, date, title, etc. To limit or sort your search using the browse indexes, select the browse search screen and use the limits or sort functions on the results screen.
