Preferred Citation
ECA Technical Assistance Papers, 1948-1952, Archives Center, National Museum of American History. Gift of William Sanford.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Collection donated by William Sanford, November 15, 1988.
Biographical/Historical note
About 1500 documents relating to visits of more than 100 European "productivity teams" to U.S. industrial facilities as part of the Marshall Plan program to rebuild Western Europe's industry after WWII. ECA organized these visits.
Custodial History
Papers originally in the National Archives. Following a review in the 1970s and a plan to destroy these documents, William Sanford, State Department historian who had used the material in his doctoral research, received permission to acquire the records. Donated to museum in 1988, and transferred from the Division of Engineering & Industry (now Division of Work and Industry) to the Archives Center, April 7, 1989.
Conditions Governing Access
Collection is open for research.
Conditions Governing Use
