This accession consists of four blogs maintained by the National Museum of African Art (NMAfA).
"Africa Underground," crawled June 8, 2012, promotes an occasional event series of the same name. Africa Underground opens the doors of the National Museum of African Art after hours for the public to enjoy the museum's exhibitions and features performances, dancing, light refreshments, and drinks. The blog was opened in February 2011 and has been inactive since September 2011.
"Artists-in-Dialogue," crawled June 8, 2012, served as an online component for the exhibition "Artists in Dialogue" that opened February 4, 2009. The blog was opened in January 2009 and regular posts continued through June of that year. An additional post in January 2011 promoted a blog for a successor exhibition.
"NMAfA and Ideal Academy Mural Partnership," crawled June 18, 2012, documents progress on a 70-foot mural within Ideal Academy Public Charter School in Washington, District of Columbia. The NMAfA Education Department facilitated the mural project, working with students and teachers and creating curriculum connections. The blog was opened in January 2010 and has been inactive since July 2010. For the most part, posts consist primarily of images with minimal text.
"Studio Africa," crawled June 18, 2012, documents an educational program of the same name. The Studio Africa Project serves District of Columbia Public Schools in connecting its students to African art and culture. The blog was opened in March 2011.
