This accession consists primarily of images as well as some video documenting the construction of the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center and events surrounding its opening. Long, Smithsonian Institution, Office of Imaging and Photographic Services (OIPS) photographers assigned to NASM; Jeff Tinsley and Dane Penland, OIPS photographers; and William Doole, National Air and Space Society volunteer. Additional images were taken or compiled by Linda Neuman Ezell, Project Coordinator. Materials include slide transparencies, prints, negatives, contact sheets, and digital images. A small number of images document models, concept drawings, architectural drawings, floor plans, and the placement of artifacts in the facility or were compiled for use in publications and presentations. There is also a small amount of non-image material including narratives, brochures, ephemera, notes, memoranda, and statistics. Some materials are in electronic format.
