These records document the activities of the Oceanography and Limnology Program (OLP), 1970-1975, and its predecessors, the assistant director for Oceanography, National Museum of Natural History, 1962-1966, and the Office of Oceanography and Limnology, 1966-1970. Most of the records were created by Irvin Eugene Wallen, William Aron, and Robert F. Higgins. They include correspondence, memoranda, budgets, proposals, contracts, reports, and publications primarily concerning OLP's administration of the Smithsonian Oceanographic Sorting Center (SOSC), the Mediterranean Marine Sorting Center (MMSC), and OLP-sponsored research projects.
